Tweed Cottage, Paxton, village of peace, Scottish Borders, only five miles from Berwick-upon-Tweed and the coast line. Ideal for a single guest or a cottage for two.

Tweed Cottage is a charming 19th century terraced cottage in the centre of the quiet conservation village of Paxton, only four miles from the A1 and the coast. There is a lockable cycle shed next to the dedicated driveway.   Enjoy lovely riverside walks by Paxton House nearby and take afternoon tea ithere, or  on the converted bus cafe at the Chain Bridge Honey Farm up river. Make sure that you see the restored water wheel in the grounds of Paxton House, opened in May 2018

This cosy cottage is fully modernised to a high four star standard. Free WiFi is provided. The kitchen area has granite worktops and modern appliances including dishwasher. The whole cottage is recently decorated and has new carpets.  Sofa and armchairs together with modern oak furniture makes it very comfortable. The outside has been whitewashed and makes it very appealing.

The open plan lounge/dining area has flat screen TV, blu-ray DVD player and an original stone fireplace which is fitted with a mock woodburner stove.  There is full central heating and double glazing throughout, making it ideal for all times of the year. Stairs lead up to the double bedroom where there is a second flat screen TV with Freeview. Free WiFi is provided.

Tweed Cottage reviewsA spacious and well-equipped shower room is located off the bedroom. There is a luxury walk-in shower with both ‘rain-head’ and hand-held shower-heads. The vanity area has smart lighting and mirror and a large heated towel rail keeps the organic Egyptian towels warm. Shona from Purity Soaps of Berwick supplies guests with excellent soap. White cotton bed linen is included in the tariff.

All guests receive a ‘Welcome Basket’ which includes a selection of Border specialities such as organic eggs, home made jam, shortbread biscuits made by local baker, Fords of Norham and the famous ‘Berwick Cockles’sweeties plus other surprises. You can also sample one of our local ales, Hetton Law in Northumberland. Treats are also provided for our dog guest.

Starter supplies of tea, ground coffee, fresh milk and sugar are ready for use in the kitchen area. Parking for one car is provided next to the garden which is 25 yards away from the cottage. There is a lockable cycle shed provided and information about local cycle ways can be found on http://www.visitberwick.com/sports-activities/cycling.  One dog is more than welcome at no charge. A second small pet may be accepted at a single charge of £30.

The village inn welcomes dogs. The Cross  serves excellent meals and cask ales. We are happy to make a reservation for you to avoid a disappointment

Paxton is a delightful village near to the River Tweed.

Paxton House is within walking distance.

The village pub which serves meals is only two minutes walk away and accepts dogs. The historic town of Berwick-upon Tweed is ten minutes drive away and Alnwick Gardens only 45 miles away.

Most visitors want to explore the Holy Island of Lindisfarne and its nature reserve which is 12 miles from the cottage
